I like to give back 🙂
I work on projects that help raise money for good causes.
One of my recent projects was for Goldstock. Goldstock is a golden retriever rescue fundraiser. The panel was auctioned off at their annual event to raise money for rescue groups all over the East Coast.
The design’s inspiration came from a composite of photographs taken at previous Goldstock events, and is meant to convey the spirit of golden retriever rescue, Camp Weequachic (the event location), and a love of goldens in general.
The panel is made from approximately 75% reclaimed stained glass from around the New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania area. The finished piece measures 32 x 18.25 inches.
Every quarter when I pay my business taxes, I make a donation to a charity to support issues I care about.
Here are some of the good causes that have received donations from peaceloveglass recently:
Fisher House – They provide free & low cost housing to military families so they can be close to their loved ones during hospitalization for disease, illness, or injury.
Tabby’s Place – A cage-free sanctuary for cats rescued from hopeless situations.
Donor’s Choose – Teachers all around the country need supplies & materials for their classrooms. This site lets you pick specific classrooms/teachers/programs to donate to. I like to donate to NYC schools, particularly arts and science programs in elementary schools.
Light the Night – This annual event funds therapies and treatment advances for blood cancer patients.
Kickstarter – Lots of great projects here to pick from! The last project I donated to was the publication of a vividly illustrated children’s book. The book is about a bored pug who teaches his busy owner about what’s important.
I’m also the VP of a registered non-profit group of 180+ local artists.
We provide networking, support, and education for women running small arts businesses in the Northern NJ/NYC area. If you’re a female artist/entrepreneur in the area, you should join us!
